Where we are

Where to find us.

The clinic is on Star Lane, on the eastern edge of Southend-on-Sea. It is set back from the road with its own car park, so you pull in, walk a few steps and you are at reception. There is no multi storey to work out and no hunting for a space on a busy road.

This is a village setting rather than a town centre, and that is much of the appeal. Barling and Little Wakering are more or less next door. Shoeburyness is a short run down the road, and the seafront at Thorpe Bay is an easy drive along the coast. We are also close to Leigh-on-Sea, Rayleigh, Benfleet, Canvey and the surrounding areas in Southend-on-Sea.

Inside the clinic

What is in the building.

  • Treatment rooms for assessment and hands-on work, with doors that close properly
  • A rehabilitation gym, so exercises can be taught and checked rather than handed over on a sheet
  • Diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound on site, with a sonographer who is also a physiotherapist
  • An infra-red sauna, used alongside treatment for some people rather than instead of it
  • A spacious waiting area with seating that is easy to get out of and refreshments while you wait for your treatment
  • Parking directly outside, and step free access from the car park to the ground floor rooms

Driving here

Getting here by car.

Most people drive. From Shoeburyness it is a short hop up through the village, usually well under ten minutes. From Thorpe Bay and the eastern side of Southend-on-Sea, allow somewhere around a quarter of an hour in normal traffic, and a little longer at school run times.

From Rochford and Ashingdon it is typically twenty minutes through the lanes, and Barling and Little Wakering are a couple of minutes away.

If you are driving somewhere new and you would rather check the turning with a person before you set off, ring the clinic and we will talk you in.

The practical bits

  • Parking on site, directly outside the door
  • Step free access from the car park to the ground floor treatment rooms
  • Ground floor treatment rooms for anyone who cannot manage stairs
  • Open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm
  • No GP referral needed to book

Public transport

Coming by train or bus.

The nearest railway stations are Shoeburyness and Thorpe Bay, both on the c2c line out of Fenchurch Street. Shoeburyness is the end of the line and the closer of the two. Neither is a comfortable walk from us, so plan on a taxi or a bus for the last part of the trip.

A taxi from Shoeburyness is a short ride, and reception can order one for you when you are ready to go home. Local buses run between Southend-on-Sea, Shoeburyness and the Wakerings and stop near the clinic, though they are less frequent than the trains, so check the times before you travel.

If you are coming by public transport for the first time, call us and we will tell you what most people do.

Getting seen

How to book in.

You do not need to go through anybody else to see us.

  1. No referral needed

We are a private clinic, so there is no waiting for a GP to send a letter. You can book directly. If we think your GP or a consultant should know what we have found, we will write to them with your permission.

  2. Call or WhatsApp

You can reach us 24 hours a day on 01702 965 509. In opening hours our team will answer; out of hours, our AI receptionist can book or reschedule an appointment for you. Not sure what to book? Just tell us and we will help.

  3. Tell us what is going on

A sentence or two about what hurts and how long it has been there is enough. It lets us put you with the right clinician and set aside the right amount of time for you.

  4. Come in a few minutes early

Arriving five to ten minutes before your appointment gives you time to park, find reception, get your breath back and enjoy some refreshments.

FAQs

Common questions.

Is there parking at the clinic?

Yes, on site and directly outside the building, which matters when walking is the thing that hurts.

Which railway station is nearest?

Shoeburyness and Thorpe Bay are the closest, both on the c2c line. Shoeburyness is nearer. Neither is within a sensible walk of the clinic, so take a taxi or a local bus for the last stretch. From Shoeburyness the taxi ride is a short one.

If you are unsure, ring us before you travel and we will talk you through it.

Is the clinic accessible?

Yes. There is step free access from the car park to the ground floor treatment rooms, with room to get about with a frame, crutches or a wheelchair.

If you have a particular worry about getting in, ring before you come and we will tell you exactly what you will find.

Are there any stairs?

Some of our treatment rooms are upstairs and some are on the ground floor. If stairs are difficult, tell us when you book and we will make sure you are seen downstairs.

Do you see people from across Southend-on-Sea?

Most of our patients come from somewhere other than the village. A lot travel over from Shoeburyness and Thorpe Bay, and we see people from across Southend-on-Sea and from Rochford and Ashingdon to the north.

Some come further than that for the ultrasound, because not every clinic has it on site. Where you live does not change what we can do for you.

When are you open?

Our clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, but our phone lines are open 24 hours a day. Outside opening hours, our AI receptionist will answer and can book or reschedule an appointment for you. For anything else, it will take a message and we will come back to you on the next working day.

Ready when you are.

Call or WhatsApp us on 01702 965 509 and we will find a time that suits you.
